Development Management Archaeologist

£30,000 per annum
Pension provision: up to 6% salary contribution.

Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust is a small, dynamic charity established in 1988 with the aim of conserving and promoting archaeological and architectural heritage of Perth and Kinross for the benefit of residents, visitors and future generations.

We are seeking to appoint an archaeologist on a one-year fixed-term basis to:

  1. Deliver the archaeological development management service to Perth and Kinross Council staff, with regular site visits throughout Perth and Kinross, and to Transport Scotland regarding the A9 dualling project;
  2. Use and update the Trust’s Historic Environment Record (HER) and liaise with the Trust’s HER Officer;
  3. Contribute to the Trust’s programme of community archaeology and outreach through the King’s Seat Archaeology Project and Scottish Archaeology Month.

You will have a relevant qualification in archaeology, and a sound understanding of both archaeological records and field-work, although no previous development management experience is necessary, and ideally have CIfA membership. The post offers an excellent ‘springboard’ opportunity to upskill in curatorial archaeological management, while gaining experience in the delivery of community archaeology with an organisation with an excellent proven track record.

Terms and Conditions: 36 hour week/min. 25 days’ annual leave and flexible working. While a 1-year, fixed-term contract, there is the possibility of continued employment with the Trust on other projects. The post is based in Perth and will involve travel throughout scenic Perth and Kinross.

For an informal discussion call David Strachan, Trust Director on 01738 477081.
